Technical Director

The Technical Director provides administrative and creative leadership for production of contemporary and traditional worship and special services (funerals and weddings). The Technical Director is part-time (average of 20 hours/week) and an on-site staff member who is responsible for leading production teams who enhance and support worship services through audio, lighting, projection, and streaming.

Job Description

The Technical Director provides administrative and creative leadership for production of worship and special services. This position serves as the technical producer for Sunday morning with direct leadership of all audio, lighting, projection, and streaming of services. This leader is responsible to the Pastor for the following:

Creative Worship Service Leadership:

  • Leads the Production Teams during weekly Sunday worship and special services
    • Schedules Tech Team members as needed for weekly services
    • Recruits and equips additional Tech Team members to serve on rotation
    • Provides coaching, feedback, and celebrations for Tech Team members
  • Leads the content creation of tech for weekly Sunday worship and special services
    • This includes audio needs, lighting scenes, projection slides, and video creation
    • Creates screen identity for Sedge Garden

Administrative Leadership:

  • Assists in planning engaging and relevant weekly worship and special services
    • Attends Monthly Global Worship Planning Meeting
    • Meets monthly with Pastor
    • Meets with Worship Committee as needed
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and keeps equipment (firmware/software, etc.) updated

Financial Responsibility:

  • Manages tech areas of worship ministry budget
  • Plans upgrades and new editions of equipment on a three-year fiscal calendar
  • Adheres to financial policies of Sedge Garden UMC

Direct Supervision:

  • Provides spiritual presence and shepherds Volunteer Tech Team

Education/Experience/Skills & Abilities (Preferred):

  • Passionate worshiper
  • Teachable spirit and student of worship
  • Ability to lead through creative empowerment and delegation
  • Experience with Planning Center Services, Music Stand, CCLI, CCVI, One License, ProPresenter, Worship Cast, and Social Media

Church Office Coordinator

The Church Office Coordinator embodies a warm welcome and hospitality for all who connect to Sedge Garden UMC Offices. The Church Office Coordinator is a full-time (average of 40 hours/week), on-site staff member who is responsible for the following: coordination of the front office and communications hub, church facility and equipment scheduler, assists with church database management and assistant to the Church Business Administrator and Pastor. This position works closely with all ministries and program areas of Sedge Garden UMC.

Education/Experience/Skills & Abilities (Preferred)

  • Passionate follower of Jesus who is growing in his/her faith
  • Three years of experience in front office coordination/management
  • Business Office background with focus on hospitality
  • Experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers
  • Experience with ShelbyNext Church Database Software
  • Significant Experience with Computer Software (MS Office Products, Email, Adobe, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks successfully
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Background checks required

Job Description

Front Office Coordinator

  • Hospitality and Welcome
    • Embodies a warm welcome and hospitality for all who connect to the Church Office
    • Coordinates the Office Assistance Ministry Team (Volunteer Servants):
      • Recruits, schedules, trains, and supervises Office Assistance Ministry Team
      • Coordinates support tasks from Church Leaders and Staff
      • Coordinates reminders for all committee and team meetings
      • Manages Office Volunteer Calendar
    • Provides phone and door reception when support team is unavailable
      • Responds to all requests or assists in directing request to appropriate staff member
    • Phone Management
      • Manages the general recordings of the phone answering system
      • Checks general voicemail daily and responds or resources accordingly
  • Receiving and Shipping
    • Retrieves daily mail from mailbox and distributes appropriately
    • Receives packages and notifies staff of package arrivals
    • Prepares mail for shipment through USPS Meter Machine
    • Delivers outgoing USPS mail to mailbox for staff and ministry leaders
    • Oversees shipping of other items as needed
  • Maintains Church Office Equipment (Copiers, Folding Machine, Binding Machine, Metered Mail Machine, etc.)
  • Purchases office supplies for Church and maintains in orderly and clearly labeled spaces

 Membership Secretary

  • Creates and Updates groups as needed in Shelbynext Database
  • Logs Attendance for Groups (Sunday School and Small Group) and Worship
  • Updates Shelby Database Member fields as information is obtained or submitted
  • Handles all Shelbynext Database Messages
  • Processes all profile updates for individuals in Shelby (membership changes, deaths, marriages, address changes, etc.)
  • Sends letters of transfer requests as needed
  • Prepares membership roll audit for Charge Conference
  • Leads and updates yearly Database Audit of information

 Church Calendar and Equipment Scheduler

  • Schedules all room usage through Shelbynext Software
  • Coaches Church leaders and staff on room usage request process and policies
  • Coordinates the staff out-of-office calendar
  • Schedules equipment and other resources through Shelbynext Software (includes bus, signage boards, portable projector, portable TV, etc.)
  • Coordinates the collection of donation items (ie. Mission tasks)

 Administrative Assistant

  • Records Minutes of Staff Meeting and emails out next day to staff
  • Supports Pastor and Church Business Administrator as needed
  • Provides a professional and confidential congenial relationship with all staff, especially Church Business Administrator and Pastor
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned

 Financial Responsibility

  • Assists with management of the Administration Budget
    • Oversees the Office Supplies, Postal Expense
